My guest for this episode is Julie Winkle Giulioni. Throughout her career, Julie Winkle Giulioni has championed workplace growth and development. She operates on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential. And she works with organizations and leaders who want to make that happen.
Julie is the co-author of the international bestseller, Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go: Career Conversations Organizations Need and Employees Want, translated into seven languages, and most recently Promotions Are So Yesterday: Redefine Career Development. Help Employees Thrive.
In addition to writing and speaking on workplace and development issues, Julie leads DesignArounds, a firm that creates and offers training to organizations worldwide. DesignArounds has earned praise and awards from Human Resource Executive Magazine’s Top Ten Training Products, New York Film Festival, Brandon Hall, and Global HR Excellence Council.
Previously, Julie led product development at AchieveGlobal. Managing cross-functional and international teams of marketing, creative, instructional design, and production professionals, she directed the development and launch of products that are used in tens of thousands of organizations globally. But her roots in learning go back even further than that. Julie has held multiple training management positions, was a professor and department chair at Woodbury University, and taught high school. But it was her first job that inspired Julie’s commitment to a career in development. She started out teaching modeling and charm to children.
Named by Inc. Magazine as a Top 100 Leadership Speaker, Julie is a sought after keynote presenter. She’s traveled to China, Russia, Brazil, Lithuania and beyond offering fresh, inspiring, yet actionable strategies for leaders who are interested in their own growth as well as supporting the growth of others.
Julie is a regular columnist for Training Industry Magazine and SmartBrief and contributes articles on leadership, career development, and workplace trends to numerous publications including The Economist.
She is the proud mom of a daughter who’s pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy and a son and daughter-in-law who both are tech and real estate investment professionals. Julie lives in a 100+ year-old home in South Pasadena, California with her exceedingly patient husband and their sweet rescue pooch, Pixel.
